Frequently asked questions
Hosting
Which hosting plan should I start with?
Most small business sites do well on Web Hosting or Managed WordPress. If you sell online, expect traffic spikes, or need more control, look at higher tiers or VPS. Browse Pricing, or ask MAI for a quick recommendation — then use Get support if something is already broken.
What is the difference between Web Hosting and Managed WordPress?
Web Hosting is a flexible home for many site types. Managed WordPress is tuned for WordPress sites with a clearer care path for updates and common WP issues. Pick based on what you run today, not on buzzwords.
Domains & DNS
Can I transfer a domain I already own?
Yes. You can transfer eligible domains through our catalog. Unlock the domain at your current registrar, get the auth/EPP code, then start transfer in Domains. DNS changes can take time to propagate — plan for that before a big launch.
Why is my domain not pointing to my website?
Usually nameservers or A/CNAME records still point at the old host. Confirm the records your hosting plan expects, then wait for DNS to update (often minutes to a few hours, sometimes longer). If the site is down and you need hands-on help, use Get support.
How do I get email at my own domain?
Choose Professional Email, Microsoft 365, or Google Workspace from our catalog, then connect it to your domain with the DNS records the product shows. Do not share mailbox passwords in chat — use My Account or Get support for login problems.
Mail is not arriving. What should I check first?
Confirm MX records, that the mailbox still exists, and that you are signed into the correct account. Check spam/junk. If mail stopped after a domain or DNS change, restore the provider’s recommended records. For an outage on a live mailbox, open Get support.
Billing & account
Where do I see invoices and renewals?
Sign in through My Account to manage products, billing, and renewals with your usual product login. That login does not change when you use Managed Server Space. Chat cannot process payments or reset account passwords.
I am locked out of my account. What do I do?
Use the account recovery options on the sign-in screen first. If that fails, open Get support — you may need to verify ownership. Never send passwords, recovery codes, or full card numbers in chat or email forms.
Websites & WordPress
Can you migrate my existing website?
Yes — we can help you choose a plan and path for a move. Tell us what you have today (WordPress, builder, or other). For a live migration already in progress or stuck, use Get support so product specialists can help safely.
Do I need WordPress for a small business site?
Not always. Website Builder is fine for many brochure and store needs. WordPress is better when you want flexible content, plugins, or a specific theme ecosystem. Ask MAI which fit matches your goals, then start from Get started or Pricing.
Security & SSL
Do I need an SSL certificate?
Yes for any public site that collects forms, logins, or payments — and it is the modern baseline for trust in the browser. Many hosting plans include a certificate path; dedicated SSL products are available when you need a specific type (DV/OV/EV).
My browser says the site is not secure. Why?
Often the certificate is missing, expired, or the site still loads mixed HTTP resources. Confirm SSL is issued for the exact domain (including www), force HTTPS if your plan supports it, and clear caches after the fix. If the site is live and failing, use Get support.
